Service Not Self: Our mission is to support the American Legion and honor the sacrifice of those who served by helping the military and veterans (both at home and aboard). We advocate for our veterans, educate and mentor our youth, and promote patriotism; good citizenship; peace; and security.

A Brief History:

The American Legion Auxiliary was founded in 1919. It was created to help serve the legion and its members as they had during times of war.

Our President, Dawn Herndon, set up display tables on Poppy Day.

Where Are We Today?

Now we do many things in our community to help serve our veterans and military. Such as hosting trunk or treats and setting up a scarecrow in front of the Legion. Other activities we've done include holding a paint night and participating in the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival Parade.

We have helped out the legion by participating in memorial day services and handing out Poppy flowers in remembrance of those who died in wars. We held chili luncheon on veterans day after their service.
